Three years after the release of their debut album, the Israeli band Shredhead (who are now based in Berlin) are on the brink of releasing their second full-length, Death Is Righteous, via the Danish label Mighty Music. With a name like “Shredhead”, the band provide a strong clue to their chosen style of mayhem, but we’ll take away the guesswork by giving you a taste of the new album through our premiere of the album’s third track, “The Lie”.

The song does indeed deliver a potent guitar attack, but there’s as much powerhouse groove in “The Lie” as there is whiplashing thrash. In fact, the grinding bass and explosive drumwork make a very strong impression — sort of like the impression made by a crowbar applied vigorously to the back of the neck.

But the high-voltage riffs in the song are more than a match for that pile-driving rhythm section: they’re guaranteed to get heads and bodies moving, even when the pace slows to a bruising stagger (highlighted by a serpentine guitar solo) before one final flamethrowing eruption at the end. And on top of all that, Aharon Ragoza’s full-throated bellows and howls give this high-testosterone music an added dose of swagger.

As described in Shredhead’s press announcements, the 11 tracks on Death Is Righteous “map the way to self-destruction, in all of its aspects and forms in a life that needs to end”. The album was mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen (Suicide Silence, The Haunted, Aborted, Sick of It All) and it will be released on January 12, 2015. It can be pre-ordered here.

Earlier this month the band premiered an official lyric video for the album’s title track, and we’ve included that right after our premiere of “The Lie”:
