May 262011
I’m in a hurry, so no words, other than to say my new hero (and occasional NCS writer) Siddharth Darbha just e-mailed me a link to this, which purports to be a new Gojira song from their long-awaited EP, The Sea Shepherd, and that it purports to include guest participation by Devin Townsend and Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah). I have to go change my underoos now.
That’s one heavy beast!
Today is a good day
I’m not impressed at all. Also, can someone direct me over which component of the song must Thordendal have contributed?
I’d guess the leads at 2:40
That’s my bet too, and the solo that follows.
I respectfully disagree sir, I am impressed, and excited, and like Islander will have to change the underoos.
Devin Townsend growl + signature Gojira beats = happiness
i disagree as well. I found that to be quite life changing. Pretty sure i changed my undies about three times over cause i could not stop pissing myself while simultaneously crying tears of joy. Fucking brilliant.
like seriously whoever doesn’t like this song should quit listening to metal forever
This is the first I’ve really given Gojira the time of day and actually listened to a song of thiers. I’m pretty impressed. Maybe it’s Thordendal’s participation, but I think it sounds pretty similar to Textures. I don’t like Devin Townsend, but whatever. Maybe I’ll have to pay more attention to Gojira.
maybe? have you seen my post about why they are the best metal band in the world???!!!
Nope. I’d be interested in reading it.
Here’s that post IntoTheDarkness was referring to:

Just went to their facebook and listened to a bunch more of thier stuff. Totally digging it. Thanks!
Turning someone new onto Gojira — feels like I actually did something worthwhile today. 🙂 Now I can revert to slothdom.
I think we’re pretty sure Gojira IS absolutely THE best metal band on the Earth. No question. Fuck. Yes.
I could probably figure out my favorite Gojira song — if I were threatened with death. But I like so many, I couldn’t do it otherwise. But if you’re game for listening to more of what they’ve done, try these:

Don’t forget Esoteric Surgery, Wolf Down The Earth, Flying Whales and A Sight To Behold!
Gah, so many.
Toxic Garbage Island, To Sirius, Remembrance…
This is what I mean — all of these songs are just so damned good that it’s really not possible to even pick a Top 5.
There’s a really interesting 3-way collaboration going on here. You get both Thordendal and Joe Duplantier collaborating with Townsend on the Deconstruction album (on “Deconstruction” and “Sumeria” respectively) and now Townsend and Thordendal collaborating with Gojira. Maybe DT and Duplantier will appear on the next Meshuggah album. 🙂
I do really like the vocal mix on this song between Duplantier and Townsend, and frankly, I’m hearing elements of DT, Meshuggah, and Gojira all through this song, as if they collaborated in the writing as well as the performance of it. I’m blown away.
At last some news about gojira’s new ep!
sounds like good ol’ gojira to me wich is never, ever a bad thing, devin and fredrik do make a very noticeable presence.
i hope there is a release date for this very soon
Apparently a copy of a song from Sea Shepherd is being released with Metal Hammer. I think that’s what the Facebook message said.
Sharp eye — yes, it will be on a Razor CD packaged with the next issue, which is due for release on Wednesday:

Thanks. Also, Skeletonwitch also said this on Facebook: “The van is packed. Time to head for L.A. and make a heavy metal record.”
Three things about three of my six favorite bands in one day… it could only get more awesome if Cerebral Bore’s tour manager decided to add Philly or Baltimore to the tour dates… yeah the schedule was on Facebook too. I’m kind of a Facebook addict now if you haven’t been able to tell.
NOOOOOOOOO! I used “also” twice in the same sentence! The redundancy!
Today (May 28), Gojira posted this comment on their Facebook page:
“Hi everybody
“Of Blood And Salt” feat D.Townsend / F.Thordendal
The collaboration with Devin Townsend and Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah) on this song means a lot to us. These guys are such a big inspiration since we started to be a band. The EP (4 songs) will be available soon through our website.
Hope this will bring attention on Sea Shepherd’s commitment.
Thanks to you all for your support
