For a change, I actually remembered on the second day of the new month that that the preceding month had ended; usually takes longer than that. My creditors would be happy, except I think their bills need to age a while longer. But yes, February is history — and that means its time to post our usual monthly round-up of news about forthcoming albums. Today’s list is a little more comprehensive than the half-assed job I did at the end of January, which means it’s about three-quarters assed. One of these days it will be fully assed.
Here’s how this round-up usually works: In these METAL IN THE FORGE posts, I collect news blurbs and press releases I’ve seen over the last month about forthcoming new albums from bands we know and like at NCS (including occasional updates about releases we’ve included in previous installments of this series), or from bands that look interesting, even though we don’t know their music yet. In this series, I cut and paste those announcements and compile them in alphabetical order.
Remember — THIS ISN’T A CUMULATIVE LIST. If I found out about a new forthcoming album earlier than the last 30 days, I probably wrote about it in previous installments of this series. So, be sure to check the Category link called “Forthcoming Albums” on the right side of this page to see forecasted releases we reported earlier.
Having said all that, please feel free to leave Comments and tell all of us (me and your fellow readers) what I missed when I put this list together, because I’m abso-fucking-lutely certain that I missed all sorts of shit. So let us know about albums on the way that you’re stoked about, even if you don’t see them here!

Oh wait… Brendon Small’s Galaktikon. One didn’t know he was working on a solo album. This should be interesting.
_______
Sort of related to Storm Corrosion, as in related to Opeth: one just noticed the review of the debut album Cognitive by Soen on Heavy Blog is Heavy. Soen is a Progressive Metal project involving Martin Lopez (formerly of Opeth) and Steve DiGiorgio (of Sadus and many other bands 😐 ).
Several of my friends have been pushing Soen on me. I guess I should at least have included them in this round-up. The one song I’ve heard is . . . soothing.
I don’t think I saw Necrophagist on any of the lists thus far, but it’s VERY likely that their new album will be out this year. Muhammed and co. have been recording in the studio on and off since early 2011, not to mention the multiple interviews Muhammed gave in mid-2010 in which he stated that the band were wrapping it up and that their main concern now was to get it out as soon as possible.
I’m trying not to jinx the release by saying anything about it. I’m almost to the point where it would be more fun to have the release delayed even further, to the point where it becomes the hands-down winner of the Chinese Democracy prize for metal.
Hahaha yeah, I know what you mean.
Glad there’s a new Belphegor album coming so soon after Helmuth’s throat trouble.
What was the actual issue in the end? I was more than a little concerned when I read all the reports alluding to the vague “seriousness” of his condition.
Apparently it was a lung infection (which is different from throat problems, I guess, silly me).
No UDO no Accept, it’s like Pantera without Dime, Slayer without Araya, I simply refuse to accept that!
Yes to Necrowretch..please century media dont over-produce this album
