Here are two new tours that metallic denizens of the U.S. and Canada should know about, both of which were announced today. One is co-headlined by Napalm Death and one by Converge. And what a nice coincidence that is, since not long ago we got a Napalm Death / Converge split release, from which we’ll play some music after coughing up the tour details . . . Also, both tours are stopping in Seattle, which makes me all smiley.

NAPALM DEATH / MUNICIPAL WASTE / EXHUMED

This tour is actually billed as a co-headline gig by Municipal Waste along with Napalm Death. I decided to put only Napalm Death in the headline mainly because it fit better with the recent release of that split. Exhumed is also along for the ride as direct support, which makes this tour even more awesome. But that’s not all! Depending on the dates, one of the following four bands will also be performing:

Sci-fi Arizona thrashers Vektor, Canadian punk band Dayglo Abortions, Bay Area crossover band Attitude Adjustment, and Colorado speed thrashers Speedwolf.

But wait, there’s still more!

Again depending on the locations, fans will also get to see guest sets from U.S. grindcore bastards Repulsion, Chicago punks Dwarves, and Seattle’s Martha Splatterhead’s Revenge.

I have to pause here for a minute, because I’m located in Seattle and I’ve never heard of a band called Martha Splatterhead’s Revenge. I HAVE heard of a 1986 album by the name of The Return…Of Martha Splatterhead and a 1988 album by the name of Martha Splatterhead’s Maddest Stories Ever Told, both by the seminal Seattle crossover thrash band The Accüsed, and Martha Splatterhead is The Accüsed’s mascot. So . . . could this be an appearance by some or all of The Accüsed?

Okay, now about that split . . .

Each band — Napalm Death and Converge — contributed two songs to it, and it was self-released (and distributed by Deathwish on vinyl) on August 1. The two Converge songs are “No Light Escapes”, which the band has been playing live for quite a while, and a cover of the Entombed classic, “Wolverine Blues”.

The “Wolverine Blues” cover is especially interesting because it includes these guest appearances: Tomas Lindberg (Disfear, At The Gates, Lock Up), Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom, Split Cranium), Kevin Baker (APMD, The Hope Conspiracy), and Brian Izzi (Trap Them).

The two Napalm Death offerings are the speedy “Will By Mouth” and the slower “No Impediment To Triumph (Bhopal)”.

The split can be downloaded from Deathwish at this location.

So, to round out this post, here are a track from each band off the split:

  1. See Napalm Waste makes me all excited cuz y’know, there’s a Toronto date.

Converge and Kvelertak make me go all “GRAAAAAGGG FOR FUCKS SAKE”

    /whine.

  2. Coverge + Kvelertak = I’m going to be stabbed at this show. But Torche will help me smile while I bleed.

So pumped! The Triple Rock in Minneapolis is such a small venue though (like, maybe 100 people, and that would be a tight fit), I’m really surprised by that choice. Would not be surprised if the venue will swap before they get here. I remember Kylesa and Red Fang playing there. It was a small turnout (dead of MN winter) but even with only maybe 60 people it filled up pretty quick.

  3. Of course Municipal Waste skips MI
