(Here we have a message from Andy Synn . . .)
That’s right NCS ne’er do wells and miscreants, it’s about time for me to abuse my lofty position here at the site in order to promote and advertise one of my bands again.
I know it’s corrupt, and entirely motivated by self-interest… but it’s also pretty cool, I promise.
So suck it up… bitch.
Come the end of November Bloodguard will be embarking on a week long tour of the UK’s finest small venues – some of which we’ve played before, some of which will be entirely new to us – as main support for Lithuanian melodic death metal types Awakening Sun.
In a previous “Blatant Plug” post I wrote this about the band (which was long before they ever contacted me):
“Theirs is a more introverted heaviness, juxtaposing flashes of extroverted extremity with an overall more layered and atmospheric approach. Their esoteric technicality and twitchy rhythms owe a definite debt to the post-Human era of Death, which is nothing to be ashamed of!”
And I stand by it.
Gearing up to the release of their second album Imbalance, the group have so far released one single – “In The Clouds of Dust” – as well as a teaser video, and I for one am really looking forward to seeing them live every night!

As for things in the Bloodguard camp we’re finally, finally… FINALLY reaching the last stages of the recording process, with the debut EP (downgraded from a full-length due to various irritating reasons) due to be sent for mixing/mastering in the next couple of weeks. We’ll also be debuting the video for “Panopticon” sometime in the near future!
In addition we’re booking studio time for a 3-track digital EP entitled Monstrous, which we hope to also have out before the end of the year. The 3 songs we’ve written for it are by far the heaviest, most punishing material we’ve ever had the (dis)pleasure of putting together, adding a new level of technicality without sacrificing the dark melody which we love so much. I’m very proud!
Here’s a little video we put together from the last run of dates, just to give you an idea of how much fun it is/isn’t:
The tour dates themselves are as follows:
24th Nov London (Surya)
25th Nov Bristol (The Gryphon)
26th Nov Brighton (The Green Door Store – AS only)
27th Nov Liverpool (The Lomax)
28th Nov TBC
29th Nov Leeds (The Fenton)
30th Nov Nottingham (The Sal)
01st Dec TBC
We still need help with the last two dates on the itinerary, so if anyone can help us out with those we’d really appreciate it!
See you on the road!
i do remember your previous plug for Awakening Sun, because it prompted me to buy “Sold Out” and i loved it
