Following up their 2020 debut album Infernal Comedy (released by Lavadome Production), the hellish French death metal band Ad Vitam Infernal have completed a new album named Le Ballet des Anges that’s now set for release on November 8th by Dolorem Records.

On the new album the lyrics focus on the Book of Enoch. As the band explain: “It is in this work that the origin of demons and Nephilim is told, as well as the origin of fallen angels such as Semihazah, who was the angel at the head of the Watchers and the instigator of their descent to earth to teach sciences forbidden to Man.”

And it is “Shemihazah the Great” that is the central figure in the song from the new album that we’re premiering today.

Ad Vitam Infernal make clear that the new album is an homage to Floridian death metal from the ’90s, dedicated to providing music that “is both brutal, blasphemous and of an unmatched precision”.

That is all certainly true of the startling song you’re about to hear, which is thoroughly electrifying, thoroughly evil, and utterly insane, but also technically very impressive. And like some virus spreading at the pace of wildfire, it’s also insidiously catchy.

The dissonant and distorted notes that open the song quickly establish a dismal and degraded mood, but soon enough the music explodes in a torrent of brutalizing percussion, tumultuous bass-lines, wildly writhing and shrieking riffage, gruesome growls, and hair-raising screams.

Madness reigns in the manifold fast-paced guitar contortions, which are both exhilarating and frightening, punctuated by hard-slugging blows and rapidly jabbing frenzies. A guitar solo vividly spirals up out of the bludgeoning mayhem, eerily ringing and becoming increasingly frenetic in its delirium.

After that, the song convulses again, rattling skulls and scouring minds in another outburst of technically impressive instrumental pandemonium and ravenous vocal ferocity.

AD VITAM INFERNAL is:
Samuel Girard – Vocals, Programmed Drums
Jérôme Mahé – Guitars
Christophe Helwin – Bass

The new album was mixed and mastered by Samuel Girard at studio Atheistic Dungeon. Jérôme Mahé created the artwork.

Dolorem will release the album on CD with a 12-page booklet that includes all the lyrics. They recommend it for fans of Hate Eternal, Morbid Angel, and Centurian, and pre-orders are available now.

At the album’s Bandcamp page, you’ll also be able to hear two other previously released songs from the album.
