(Andy Synn presents a brand new single… by his own band)

As it turns out, Islander, DGR, and I were all so busy this weekend that none of us had any time to prepare anything for NCS today.

So when the boss man asked if I wanted to take the opportunity to promote something of my own – which I generally feel a little weird doing here – I decided, for once, to take him up on the offer.

Because today we released a brand new single, a cover of Sting‘s 1987 anti-war anthem “Fragile“, and I’d love for you all to check it out!

In the same way that our cover of Peter Gabriel‘s Here Comes the Flood served as a primer for the release of Welcome to the New Dark Ages, Part 1 (the first part of our ongoing EP trilogy), and gave us a chance to experiment with the use of clean vocals and progger, more linear arrangements, so too does “Fragile” serve as a taster/teaser of our next EP (Welcome to the New Dark Ages, Part 2) which will be released next month.

This time around we used it as an opportunity to try and tighten up our songwriting even more – at three minutes and thirty six seconds it’s one of the shortest things we’ve ever done – while still trying to throw in a few unexpected twists and turns as we attempted to put our own distinctive stamp on the song.

The single also features some fantastic art courtesy of the incredibly talented Kim Holm, whose work you can (and should) check out and support here.

You can stream the song now on Spotify, etc, as well as our brand new home on Ampwall… so feel free to give it a listen and/or share it around if you like what you hear!

Beyond Grace is:

  • Andy Walmsley – vocals + bass
  • Tim Yearsley – vocals + guitar
  • Chris Morley – guitar
  • Ed Gorrod – drums
