Infernalivm is a new name, but one you will soon remember. A satanic death metal weapon from France, their lineup includes members of such notable and notorious groups as Novae Militiae, Merrimack, Benighted, and Ritualization. That info alone is enough to make extremist listeners pay attention to Infernalivm‘s debut EP, Conquering the Most High, and the music ruthlessly seizes attention too.
Sentient Ruin Laboratories, the label that will release the EP on November 29th, has described its four songs as a “dark and violent abomination with an immensely evil and antihuman atmosphere” — “dark, sanguinary, and inescapable,” “absolute sonic brutality,” “an authentic horror of creation.”
As you’ll learn through our premiere of the EP’s title track, those aren’t overstatements.
Tuned to skull-scouring and flesh-rending levels of corrosiveness, the song’s riffage is alternately mauling and malignantly lurching in its movements, skewered by piercing string-shrieks and wailing tones of misery, backed by full-bore percussive assaults and fronted by ghastly tyrannical roars.
Fast and flailing, the music also feverishly writhes in its devouring ecstasies, feeds with buzzing insectile intensity, and hacks at the listener’s neck like an executioner’s ax. Shrill spiraling tones pierce through the changing manifestations of vicious derangement, as if demonic powers are glorying in the ruination rendered by their brutishness and paroxysmal savagery.
As you’ll also see, although the song is a demon-spawned torrent of electrifying mayhem and mutilation, the performances are tight and technically impressive — Hell’s own technical death metal.
Conquering the Most High was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Infernalivm, and Infernalivm also rendered the cover art.
