We’ve been following the evolution of the Shadow Woods Metal Fest since before its inaugural appearance in 2015, and have published lively reviews and photos from the first two fests (here and here), thanks to our contributor Kaptain Carbon, who has had a hell of a great time at both of them. The next edition of Shadow Woods Metal Fest in Maryland shows all signs of being another fantastic event.
In mid-February we reported on the first 20 bands confirmed to appear at the 2017 edition of the festival, and now Shadow Woods has announced the complete line-up. Among the new names that have now been announced are Uada, Woe, Dead In the Manger, Infera Bruo, Nechochwen, and Withered. The festival will run from Thursday, September 14th, through Sunday, September 17th, at Camp Hidden Valley in White Hall, Maryland. I think this overview from the festival is worth repeating:
Beginning on Thursday night, the Pavilion stage will light up and set the tone to the weekend with allacoustic and intimate performances with Texas darkfolk maudit AMIGO THE DEVIL, Portland’s darkfolk soloist AERIAL RUIN and West Virginia’s Appalachian folk duo, NECHOCHWEN.
Friday includes exclusive performances by Oregon’s haunting black metal band UADA and Georgia’s tortured blackened death quartet WITHERED.
On Saturday, as darkness falls over the Woodland Stage, atmospheric blackened folk giants PANTOPICON will play an exclusive, 70minute set under the backdrop of the stars. Brooklyn black metal titans WOE, Rhode Island sludgydoom foursome CHURCHBURN, mysterious blackened grind band DEAD IN THE MANGER (one of two east coast shows), and San Francisco extreme death quintet VASTUM (one of two east coast shows), will all deliver exclusive performances to SHADOW WOODS METAL FEST.
