Just in time to fiendishly defile Christmas, today we’re premiering the second advance track from the debut album of Necromaniac, which bears the title Sciomancy, Malediction & Rites Abominable. Invictus Productions will handle the album’s release for Europe while The Ajna Offensive will offer it in North America.
Some of you have previously encountered Necromaniac through their 2015 debut demo (Morbid Metal), their 2018 EP (Subterranean Death Rising), and/or their second demo last year. For newcomers, the band is London-based but formed by Swedish, Spanish, Greek, and Polish musicians.
On the new album, they’re also joined by some notable guest performers: A.A. Nemtheanga of Primordial, Negative Plane’s Nameless Void, and one A Corpse Without a Soul, “whose signature throat should not be unknown to astute underground dwellers.”

Through an amalgam (or better yet, an alchemy) of different extreme and heavy metal stylings, they’ve created music that’s morbid, sinister, and occult — and the ensuing sensations are chilling, frightening, and infernally ecstatic.
The song we’re premiering today is “Calling Forth the Shade.” In this song Necromaniac create a blood-congealing spell, a spell that draws the listener deep within it even though it’s the work of necromancy, an uncomfortable sonic incantation that’s dark, dismal, and demented.
They set the stage by chilling the listener with the abysmal low moan of bowed strings and shrill frequencies that scream and squirm, joined by a fiendish cackle. Ritual drums then begin to rumble as cruel and tortured voices indulge their madness. The music sears and slowly stomps as one of those diabolical voices utters proclamations in gritty, near-strangled tones, like a fiend presiding over a hellish esoteric ceremony.
The drums occasionally burst open in exhilarating displays of acrobatics as those searing sounds writhe and frantically quiver high above, and other frequencies ominously undulate down below. Similar to how it begin, the song ends with moaning, this time exhaled through haunting organ notes.
Below we’re also including a stream of “Swedenborg’s Skull“, the first advance track released from the album. In some ways it creates a stark contrast with the song we’ve just premiered. In its ever-changing momentum it morbidly stomps and lurches, but it also explodes in episodes of furiously hammering and savagely battering percussion, and the riffing likewise convulses in severe but frenzied swarms.
A lead guitar surfaces like a reptile, and spreads grief and gloom as it slowly slithers, but it also rapidly quivers in derangement. Imperiously slashing chords also arrive, along with sounds of chimes, head-hooking riff-pulses, galloping beats, and electrifying drum fills — most of it accompanied by those ghastly demon-snarls.
