Posted today at http://www.meshuggah.net/:
After a long time of deep
soul searching and intense
wrecking of the psyches, the
new album is finally done.Soon you will meet this colossus
that will pulverize your being.Welcome to the other side
on March 27.
The album will be released by Nuclear Blast. This can’t be good news for your garden variety djent band. Why settle for a knock-off when you can have the real thing?
Who?
What?

ALL SHALL THALL
I would kill to see Meshuggah and Vildhjarta live together.
One nearly collapsed laughing. Of course, one is suffering from vertigo at the moment. Nevertheless…
OH FUCK YES, FUCK YES, FUCK YES!!!
In a press release earlier today Meshuggah said “Hey, other djent bands. Look, we’re back, see? You can knock it off now.”
I heard their response was “Whooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa” over various twinkly guitar effects.
If they tour, it will be amazing, because:
Djent kids do not mosh, and I bet most of them have never even seen a Meshuggah show, so they’re all going to flock to the tour thinking it’s going to be all easy listening like Textures live.
And then get fucking wrecked.
Because Meshuggah pits are far and away the most brutal not-slam mosh pits I have ever seen. And hell, meshuggah might BE slamming, who can tell?
Yes…if memory serves, Meshuggah was one of the few shows where the pit actually frightened me.
The last time they came to Seattle, almost exactly 3 years ago with Cynic and The Faceless, they played in a sold-out club with a max capacity of about 250 people — and I missed it because of travel for my fucking day job. I still have to hear about that fucking show from my friends who went (they enjoy torturing me). They said it was packed so full you couldn’t breathe, and everyone was in motion non-stop, beginning to end. Unfortunately, Meshuggah will probably never play a venue in Seattle that small again.
NCS tour?
Brilliant idea! I bet Meshuggah would jump at the chance to open for Massive Wall of Penis.
That would be spermingly fucksome!
(I hope this catches on.)
I saw that tour in Times Square while working for Ian Christe of Bazillion Points.
When they played Bleed, I thought someone had detonated a pipe bomb. I went airborne. I was terrified for my life.
There was a circle pit AROUND hardcore dancers with a push-pit AROUND that, and huge bruisers jsut going where they pleased breaking faces.
And they played Bleed second. When they played Future Breed Machine people RAN AWAY from the floor..
Damn. Damn. Damn. I really wish I hadn’t missed that show. Damn.
I missed the very same tour. Had tickets and everything. Unfortunately I also had the flu and was absolutely not in any kind of condition to drive to the city. STILL fucking bitter about it.
Fucking. Bitter. Yes, that sums up my feelings quite well.
They were over in one’s city in 2010 Dec. One didn’t even go to that show, and still one is scared of pits at Meshuggah shows…
Of course, one has been to very few shows. So, one’s opinion in that matter wouldn’t be very meaningful to anybody other than perhaps people from one’s own city.
Sorry man..until someone carries a 2×4 into a Meshuggah pit, this one still goes to Slayer
One isn’t very familiar with your slang. But, one is guessing that refers to a set of standard dimensions for lumber…
How does that relate to a Slayer show pit?
Yes…a piece of lumber slightly larger than an average baseball (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/10/2_By_4_Clue_Stick.jpg/220px-2_By_4_Clue_Stick.jpg).
Slayer pits tend to be rather extreme..including things like chairs, heavy chains and 2×4’s
err..baseball bat
It’s larger than an average baseball too. Though I’m guessing that baseballs and cueballs aren’t unheard of in a Slayer pit either.
Yeah..just put 2 or 3 in a pillow case and you’re good to go…umm..not that Ive ever done that you see
Motorcycle helmet in an Anthrax pit. Always good.
Maybe this will be the first thing by Meshuggah that I like… but I doubt it… 🙁
Me too……
