I came across the three things in this post and they just seemed to go together. I really don’t know what else to say by way of introduction, so I’m not even going to try. Let’s just get on with it . . .
“THE BEHEMOTH PROJECT”
Are you like me? When you listen to Behemoth’s “Alas, Lord Is Upon Me”, do you feel like thrusting your pelvis, twerking, and trying to strangle yourself with your hair? Yeah, I thought so. It’s a common reaction. But not all of us are willing to get in front of a camera while we’re doing that. Thank goodness that Aneta, Katarzyna, and Izabela felt no such inhibitions.
Here they are, performing their dance routine to Behemoth’s classic at the Modelarnia fitness center in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. I feel sure that in no time “Alas, Lord Is Upon Me” will rapidly become a part of fitness routines worldwide, right up there with Deicide’s “Fuck Your God”.
(thanks to Andy Synn for the tip about this video, which he prefaced with the words “So… what the f?”)
BEHEMOTH ON THE MARIMBA
Speaking of people willing to take Behemoth’s music in new directions, I give you Matthias De Hantsetters. Matthias is an 18-year-old dude living in Belgium who loves metal. Apparently, he also loves the marimba. So without further ado, here’s Matthias doing his playthrough cover of “Ov Fire and the Void” on the marimba. Rock on…
“SZATAN, SZATAN, SZATAN…”
And what better way to finish off this round-up of Behemoth What the Fuck? than a video of Behemoth’s Nergal singing a tender acoustic ballad at Radio Roxy in Warsaw, Poland, with a couple of the radio personalities. At least I’m guessing that’s who they are.
It’s all in Polish, so I don’t know what they’re saying or what they’re singing, except I do recognize one of the words…
Although everything on “AEALO” is supposed to be gloomy, I find “Demonon Vrosis” to be very uplifting. I think it could go on a workout playlist along with “Eye of the Tiger”.
I’ll write Aneta, Katarzyna, and Izabela and see what they can do with Demonon Vrosis.
i couldn’t understand a single word but for some reason the Radio Roxy clip put a smile on face 🙂
Hey, there was one word you could understand, wasn’t there? 🙂
Seems more like interpretive dance set to Behemoth…
I agree. I guess the fact that they recorded it in a fitness center suggested the idea of it being a workout routine. But even as interpretive dance, they’re doing things that seem at right angles to the music. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed it . . .
Well of course somethings off…all that crotch thrusting is way more appropriate for a band like Cannibal Corpse.
I would love to see that marimba one be broken out in street performer style, where he’s just on some street corner doing Behemoth songs and see how many people actually notice. I know if I walked by and heard that, it would both me all goddamned day until I figured what the hell it was, especially because I wouldn’t recognize it immediately.
More importantly the dudes youtube account is incredible, he’s got four or five Amon Amarth covers buried in there too. He could totally fuck with people if he set up shop on a corner somewhere.
I’d stop and listen to anyone playing the marimba, wouldn’t much matter what they were playing, but yeah, it would twist people’s heads if he played those covers without the backing tracks — and twist them even more if he played WITH the backing tracks.
I wish there was more dancing like this by fans at live shows. There were two girls dancing together at the Anathema show I went to recently, but they were reality (vs. fantasy) lesbians, so it was a bit of a let down. Still, it better than watching the two dudes that had been making out in front of me though….NTTAWWT. I was feeling sort of bromantic myself, in a totally heterosexual way, towards Neige after seeing Alcest do the opening set.
It was a weird show.
Seriously, the dance routine was retarded. I can not be the only one that felt embarrassed for them when watching that.
